Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez has been named the B1G co-Freshman of the Week after a spectacular performance against Minnesota on Saturday.

Martinez was nearly perfect in the Huskers’ 53-28 victory over the Gophers, the team’s first win of the 2018 season. He completed 25-of-29 pass attempts for 276 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 125 yards and a score on 15 carries.

Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore was the other co-Freshman of the Week.

Martinez has been sensational despite Nebraska’s 1-6 start. In six games this season, the freshman has thrown for 1,443 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 415 yards and four scores.

Saturday’s win over Minnesota marked the second time Martinez has hit the century mark on the ground. It’s the first time he’s thrown for over 200 yards and rushed for more than 100.

Martinez and the Huskers are back in action next Saturday against Bethune-Cookman.
