Ohio State has suffered one loss this season, is ranked No. 11 in the nation and the talk about Urban Meyer leaving Columbus at the end of the season is at an all-time high. It’s such a relevant topic, Vegas even has odds on who will be the Buckeyes head coach for 2019.

Betonline.ag has given Meyer 5/4 (+125) odds to be the head coach next season. While that’s still the best odds on the board, it’s probably much lower than you’d expect for a coach of his caliber.

The really strange thing about the coaching odds, though, was the list of names Betonline.ag had as potential replacements if Meyer doesn’t stick around. Some of them are truly bizarre.

On the list are some of the traditional hot names in coaching: Matt Campbell (Iowa State), Jeff Brohm (Purdue), Lane Kiffin (FAU), and, of course current assistant Ryan Day.

After that, it takes a really strange turn, with two names in particular: Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick.

What? Who is putting money on those bets? That seems like a sure way to lose money. But, I guess if you’ve got a hunch. Although Harbaugh would likely be run out of town before he ever stepped foot on campus. Ohio State barely allows him in the stadium once every two years.

Just a strange name on an Ohio State coaching odds list.

Campbell was given the second-best odds behind Meyer at 7/4. Day was listed at 10/1, as was Brohm and Bob Stoops. Pat Fitzgerald was given 12/1 odds.

Here’s the full list:

  • Urban Meyer, Ohio State — 5/4 (+125)
  • Matt Campbell, Iowa State– 7/4 (+175)
  • Ryan Day, Ohio State (asst.) — 10/1 (+1000)
