Michigan State issued and update to its future schedules on Wednesday, making adjustments to the calendar for 2022 and 2025.

The Spartans will open the season against MAC foe and in-state opponent Western Michigan in both seasons. The 2022 matchup will take place on Sept. 3 and the 2025 game will be played on Aug. 30.

Both games will be at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.

Michigan State and Western Michigan have met 15 times on the field, with the Spartans owning a 13-2 record in the all-time series. Both wins for the Broncos came before 1920.

The Spartans have played Western Michigan five times since 2009, winning all five meeting by at least two touchdowns. MSU won the last matchup in 2017 by a score of 28-14.

Michigan State has Western Michigan and Boise State scheduled for non-conference games in 2022, but is still searching for a third opponent. The Spartans have the Broncos and Boston College currently on the 2025 schedule.

Next year, Michigan State and Western Michigan will go head-to-head on Sept. 7. That game will also be in East Lansing.
