With a name like Rocky Lombardi, it’s almost a given that you’re destined to be a quarterback.
It’s still pretty early in his career, but so far the story is that Lombardi is a good quarterback. With starter Brian Lewerke out due to a lingering shoulder injury, the freshman got the nod under center for Michigan State’s afternoon contest with Purdue and is having a strong debut.
The Spartans own a 13-6 halftime lead, thanks in part to Lombardi’s efficiency running the offense. The former 3-star prospect is 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) for 179 yards and his first ever passing touchdown, which can be seen below:
