Purdue quarterback David Blough threw three costly interceptions as the offense sputtered to just 3-of-13 on third downs and was held to its lowest point total in 12 games as the Boilermakers (4-4, 3-2 Big Ten) saw their four-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Michigan State on Saturday, losing 23-13.
Senior offensive lineman Kirk Barron was straightforward with his thoughts on how the game went:
Kirk Barron on today's loss: "They whooped our ass."

He added a little more context in a video interview, which can be seen over at the Journal & Courier:
“We’re not trying to make any excuses about how good they played — what their level was or what their stats were. We were trying to play our ball game. They were just another team to us and they whooped our ass. … We need to be able to play our ball, play our tempo. We need to take hay-makers and bring the fight to them. We didn’t do that today.”
Purdue will need to at least split its next four games in order to become bowl eligible for the second time in six years (but the second in as many years under coach Jeff Brohm). The Boilermakers are set to host Iowa next Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. EST before playing Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana to finish out the regular season.
