Ohio State: How Buckeyes fans watched Saturday’s B1G games

Ohio State’s football team had the day off on Saturday, so Buckeyes fans could take a nice, relaxing spin around the dial and check out some other Big Ten games.

Well, at least somewhat relaxing. The nightmare of the previous week’s loss to Purdue hung over Buckeye Nation at least a little.

So here’s how we think Buckeyes fans watched this weekend’s B1G action:

Early window

Pregame: The Buckeyes are off so let’s check in on my second-favorite team: Whoever is playing Michigan. …. Hmm, the Wolverines are off as well. Figures.

Noon: The Buckeyes have Nebraska next week, and the schedule says they are off — no, check that, Nebraska is playing Bethune-Cookman on the Big Ten Network. That’s right, I forgot about that makeup game.

12:01 p.m.: Where is Bethune-Cookman? (Googling…) Oh, Daytona Beach.

12:02: If they were going to schedule a makeup game, why didn’t they just put it in Daytona Beach? Sounds like a nice place to go in late October.

12:05: Purdue at Michigan State. Man, that Boilermakers loss was horrific. Well, maybe Purdue is for real. Still, how in the world did Purdue rout Ohio State?

12:06: Ah, there’s Wisconsin-Northwestern. I know Wisconsin is favored to win the B1G West but that’s the team that lost to BYU, right?

Halftime: MSU 13, Purdue 6. That Boilermakers offense is not looking so hot now. Honestly, how in the world did Purdue rout Ohio State? That’s still the team that lost to Eastern Michigan, right?

2:30: Northwestern is leading Wisconsin? The Wildcats might win the B1G West? This is the same Northwestern that lost to Akron, right?

3:30: MSU 23, Purdue 13, final. HOW IN THE WORLD DID PURDUE ROUT OHIO STATE????

Late afternoon window

3:35: Maryland vs. Illinois. The Terrapins are having a decent season but Iowa drilled them last week. OSU’s game against Maryland on Nov. 17 should be a cakewalk.

3:36: Iowa at Penn State. Looks like crummy weather. Maybe they should have played this one in Daytona Beach as well.

6:30: Maryland has scored at least 34 points in every win, huh? Are we sure Nov. 17 is going to be a cakewalk? Um, wait, that’s the same Maryland team which lost to Temple, right?

7: Penn State hung on. Boosts OSU’s strength of schedule a little, I guess. …. Wait, TCU just lost to Kansas? Sigh. I can’t watch any more, let’s get the Buckeyes back on the field already.
