What would it take for you to join the ranks of Twitter?
Many people regularly use the popular social media platform, but Illinois OL Nick Allegretti was never that big on using it. That was before one of his idols retweeted a video of him.
In an interview with Jeremy Werner of 247 Sports, Allegretti shared the story of how he and his dad decided it would probably be wise to begin developing a presence on social media. Initially not sold on the idea, Allegretti made the leap after former NFL Pro Bowl lineman Olin Kreutz retweeted a video of the Illini captain.
“Olin Kreutz retweeted the video,” explained Allegretti. “I’m a guy, I like to be myself, but there’s just certain people that are role models in my life. He retweeted that, and that’s probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”
He went on to joke that one benefit of Twitter is he finds out news a little bit quicker. For instance, he found out teammate Reggie Corbin was Co-B1G Offensive Player of the Week and was able to congratulate him on Monday instead of later in the week.

Kreutz went on to reply to the video of Allegretti with a humorous warning for the young player:
Be careful Twitter is the Wild West @Gretti_53 ! https://t.co/cU6sawQmci
