WATCH: Pat Fitzgerald informs Wildcats they are B1G West champs

No one could have expected this out of Northwestern early in the season.
The Wildcats beat Purdue in the season opener but followed that with three straight losses. In that losing streak were losses to Duke and Akron and a near upset of Michigan. At 1-3, there was little hope that Northwestern would turn things around.
Remarkably, that is exactly what Pat Fitzgerald and his squad did. The Wildcats would rattle off four straight wins and five out of their last six, including three upsets, to win the B1G West.
Northwestern capped the division title with a win over Iowa Saturday. Thanks to losses by Purdue and Wisconsin, the Wildcats have secured the division with two games to spare.
Directly after the win, Fitzgerald gathered his unsuspecting team together to deliver the good news. Needless to say, the scene is an awesome one as the Wildcats celebrated the first B1G West title in school history.
The BTN shared the video of the celebration:
“Wisconsin lost…Purdue lost…We won!”
