Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor surpasses rushing mark set by Ron Dayne

Jonathan Taylor has surpassed a rushing mark set by a former Wisconsin legend.
During the Badgers’ matchup with Purdue in West Lafayette, Taylor passed Ron Dayne’s sophomore rushing record of 3,566 yards, previously the most rushing yards by an FBS player through a sophomore season.
Taylor is also one of just three players to eclipse 3,500 yards through two seasons. Along with Dayne, Herschel Walker also hit that mark.

Entering Saturday’s game against Purdue, Taylor had amassed 1,548 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season. It’s the second straight season he’s rushed for more than 1,500 yards.
Taylor’s total was the best in the B1G and nationally.
Dayne is considered to be the top running back in Wisconsin history and one of the best ball carriers in college football. Before it’s all said and done, Taylor might be replacing the former Heisman Trophy winner with that title.
