Report: Attendance for Minnesota football among worst in the nation, lowest in 25 years

It is being reported that Minnesota football is having a serious attendance problem in 2018.
The Golden Gophers enter rivalry week with a chance to become bowl eligible in PJ Fleck’s second season with the team. Minnesota went 5-7 during Fleck’s first season as head coach and have been up-and-down this season.
There’s no denying the injury bug has hit the Gophers hard in 2018. Additionally, the team began the year playing a number of young players across the board.
It is hard to pinpoint any specific issues outside of inconsistent performance this season, but it appears fans are not sold out on the team at this point. GopherHole.com shared a report on Twitter Thursday evening that Minnesota’s attendance in 2018 is the worst for the Gophers since 1992.
The report also indicated that the scanned average of 22,656 is among the worst in the nation:

Saturday’s rivalry game will be on the road at Wisconsin. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm EST on ESPN2.
