Tom Brady said last week that this was Michigan’s year. After six long years of watching Ohio State dominate the head-to-head series, the future Hall of Fame quarterback said his alma mater was going to “kick their butt.”

It didn’t happen. It didn’t even come close to happening.

Ohio State bludgeoned Michigan on Saturday, posting a 62-39 win to improve to 11-1 and earn a spot in the B1G Championship Game against Northwestern. It’s now seven straight losses the Wolverines have suffered to the Buckeyes, but this year’s might’ve been the most painful.

After the game, known Ohio State supporter LeBron James took to Instagram to celebrate his favorite college team’s major victory. And on that post, he received a comment from Brady. But the former Michigan star didn’t make a remark supporting his team. Instead, he took a jab at his former school.

“Next year is our year,” Brady said, followed by the hashtag “I’ve said that before.”

So that’s how bad it’s gotten for Michigan. Not even former players believe the Wolverines are capable of beating Ohio State. That’s pretty rough.

Michigan still had a great season, finishing the year 10-2 and will attend a high-profile bowl game in a few weeks. But losing to Ohio State for a seventh straight time, and four in a row under Jim Harbaugh, is unacceptable in Ann Arbor.

One of the best rivalries in college football is still very one-sided. Even former Michigan players are noticing.
