A lot has changed in the world since Minnesota last beat Wisconsin in 2003. After all, 14 years is a really long time to go without winning a rivalry game.

In 2016, the University of Wisconsin-Madison decided to troll the Gophers pretty harshly after their 13th straight win in the series.

“Nobody has ever tweeted that Minnesota beat Wisconsin because Twitter didn’t exist the last time Minnesota beat Wisconsin,” the tweet said.

But on Saturday night, Minnesota got redemption. It had the perfect response to Wisconsin’s 2016 message, using just two words.

Yes, that is exactly what Twitter is for. Well played, Minnesota.

Saturday night’s 37-15 win over Wisconsin also boosted the Gophers to 6-6 on the season, meaning they’ll be making a postseason appearance for the first time under head coach P.J. Fleck. It made this weekend’s victory even more special.

Twitter is always a fun place after rivalry games. Minnesota’s message was the perfect response to Wisconsin’s two-year-old tweet.
