The Cornhuskers may have finished 4-8 in Scott Frost’s debut season as head coach, but they went 4-2 during the second-half stretch, with Martinez a main catalyst for the late success. Four of his seven 300-plus yard games came in his final six appearances as the offense torched opponents for 36.7 points.
Martinez ended his freshman campaign 224-of-347 (64.6 percent) with 2,617 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions, adding 629 yards and eight more scores on the ground.
The next two-to-three years in Lincoln are going to be a lot of fun.
