It’s the end of an era in Atlanta.

Wednesday afternoon, Jeff Schultz of The Athletic reported that Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson is retiring after 11 seasons with the Yellow Jackets. An official announcement is expected to come later in the day.

Johnson has been the head coach Georgia Tech since 2008. He also had previous head coaching stints at Georgia Southern and Navy prior to arriving in Atlanta.

In 11 seasons with the Yellow Jackets, Johnson totaled an 82-59 record and took his teams to nine bowl games.

His best years at Georgia Tech came in 2009 and 2014, leading the program to double digit win totals in those seasons. In 2009, the Yellow Jackets went 10-3 and appeared in the Orange Bowl. They also won the ACC that season.

In 2014, Georgia Tech finished 11-3 and defeated Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl.

Johnson coached 22 total seasons at the collegiate level, tallying a 189-98 record. He is a three-time ACC Coach of the Year.
