An Ohio State commit has been presented with the highest honor when it comes to high school football in the state of Ohio.

On Wednesday, the Ohio High School Athletic Association and Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association announced that Lexington High School star Cade Stover was the state’s Mr. Football recipient for the 2018 season. The Mansfield New Journal reported the news.

Stover was a force on both sides of the football this season, rushing for 1,497 yards and 18 touchdowns on 205 carries for Lexington this season. In his four-year career, he totaled 592 tackles, 21 for loss and eight interceptions.

He’s the 32nd recipient of Ohio’s Mr. Football award.

Stover is a 4-star prospect out of Ohio, ranked as the third best player out of his home state and is the fifth-best linebacker in the 2019 class. Overall, 247Sports has the high school senior tabbed as No. 123 in the entire class.

The Buckeyes received a commitment from Stover back in April 2018.

Ohio State currently owns the 12th-best recruiting class nationally and ranks second in the B1G. He’s one of the 15 members currently committed to the class.
