Which team is the best in the Big Ten?

To start the season, many liked Ohio State. However, that changed once the Buckeyes lost to Purdue 49-20 and Michigan kept winning football games.

On Nov. 24, though, the Buckeyes put up 62 points in a win over the Wolverines, answering any questions. Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins was a big part in the team’s success against Michigan, and has been all year.

That was proven Friday.

Haskins won the Chicago Tribune Silver Football award as the conference’s best player. The award is voted on by Big Ten head coaches and coaches can’t vote for their own players.

The redshirt sophomore signal caller will be able to prove once and for all that Ohio State is indeed the top team in the conference on Saturday night, when the Buckeyes meet up with Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship. Haskins has set numerous school and conference records throughout this season, and will look to make even more history against the Wildcats.

He is currently 1 TD behind J.T. Barrett in the most TDs responsible for in a season — Barrett had 47, while Haskins has 46. Haskins is also just 65 yards shy (with 4,208) of Denard Robinson’s 4,272 total offensive yards mark set in 2010.

The Ohio State-Northwestern game is scheduled for an 8:17 p.m. kickoff on Saturday and will be televised on FOX.
