We had some drama on Sunday afternoon.

Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame punched their tickets to the College Football Playoff. With the Crimson Tide and the Tigers finishing the season undefeated and winning the SEC and ACC respectively, there was no doubt they’d occupy the top two spots. The Fighting Irish also went 12-0 but sat idle on the final week of the season.

That left the fourth spot up in the air. And the selection committee had to split the hairs to make a decision.

Oklahoma defeated Texas to improve to 12-1 and claim a Big XII title. Ohio State knocked off Northwestern, also moving to 12-1 on the season and winning the B1G crown. Georgia dropped to 11-2 with a loss to Alabama, but looked awfully impressive in the SEC Championship Game.

Ultimately, the committee decided that Oklahoma deserved that fourth and final spot. And really, there was no easy decision.
