Dwayne Haskins on being considered for Heisman Trophy: ‘I feel I did what I needed to do’

Ohio State finished the season at No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

That doesn’t cut it for what the Buckeyes wished to accomplish this season — and that was win a national championship.

Now, the Buckeyes must play in the Rose Bowl. That game itself is quite the consolation prize, and quite frankly, being winners of the Big Ten and going 12-1 overall isn’t exactly a bad season.

Why the success?

Look no further than QB Dwayne Haskins. Haskins set numerous program and Big Ten records as the season went along and the redshirt sophomore may end up forgoing the rest of his college career to head for the NFL sooner rather than later.

Before any of the games or NFL Draft takes place, though, the Heisman Trophy must still find its winner. Haskins thinks it could be him:

Haskins indeed did what he needed to in order to be considered for the award. All he did was complete 70 percent of his passes for 4,580 yards and 47 TD compared to 8 INT this season.

That’s Heisman Trophy worthy, no doubt.
