It doesn’t sound like the Washington Huskies are taking anything for granted in the matchup with Ohio State.
Washington entered Selection Sunday without a shot at the CFB Playoff. Despite capturing the Pac-12 title, the Huskies finished the season with a record of 10-3 and a No. 9 ranking. However, they did secure a trip to the Rose Bowl against Ohio State.
The Buckeyes remained hopeful heading into Sunday about a potential trip to the Playoff. Unfortunately, Ohio State was left at No. 6 on the final rankings, leaving the team Pasadena-bound for the Rose Bowl.
Washington head coach Chris Peterson joined Sunday’s Rose Bowl teleconference to discuss the matchup, and it certainly sounds like he respects what Ohio State is capable of. He indicated the game presents “a tall challenge” for the Huskies:
Petersen: "This will be quite a challenge. We haven't had a chance to study Ohio State, but you just know what Ohio State and Urban Meyer are all about, this will be a tall challenge."

Washington ended the season with wins over ranked teams in Washington State and Utah. However, there’s no denying the Buckeyes present a different, and likely tougher, challenge for Peterson’s squad.
