Nothing is official just yet, but the plan is that Michigan junior offensive lineman Ben Bredeson will return for his senior season in 2019.
Bredson, a three-year starter and an impact player for the Wolverines offense, has been projected by several NFL draft pundits as one of the best guard prospects in his class — ESPN’s Mel Kiper lists him No. 3 at his position.
“I’ve got a meeting with coach and we’ll talk about everything. … I’ll be here, it’s not official (yet), but yeah,” Bredeson told reporters Monday afternoon, per the Detroit Free Press. “I love this place. I didn’t really think of leaving, honestly never even crossed my mind until after the (Ohio State) game and really haven’t thought about it a whole lot.
“But I’ll talk with Coach, do my due diligence.”
Bredeson (6-foot-5, 320 pounds), a team captain, was named second-team All-Big Ten this season. He’s been a full-time starter for the Wolverines since taking over at guard for the final eight games of his freshman season in 2016.
No. 7 Michigan (10-2, 8-1) is set to play No. 10 Florida (9-3, 5-3 SEC) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 29 at noon EST.
