Urban Meyer has officially stepped down as the head football coach at Ohio State, but he plans to stay involved with the university.
During his press conference on Tuesday, Meyer said he hopes to stay involved with Ohio State in some capacity. Athletic director Gene Smith also hinted at the former head coach taking on new responsibilities.
“God has a plan,” Meyer said when asked if he plans to stay involved with the Buckeyes. “I’m not quite sure what that is. I hope to stay involved.”
Meyer has been with Ohio State for seven season, winning three B1G titles and a national championship. He also went 7-0 against Michigan while in Columbus.
After announcing his retirement, Meyer was asked if he believes he’ll work his way back into the coaching profession. He said, right now, he doesn’t believe he’ll be on the sidelines.
“I believe I will not coach again,” Meyer said when asked. He also said he was “certain” of it.
