Rivalries mean a lot.
Ask any Ohio State or Michigan fan. Ask an Alabama or Auburn fan.
Even in the NFL, the Steelers hate the Ravens and vice versa. There are countless rivalries in sports, but one of the most storied rivalries is in the NFL between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
The two teams are in the same division and play each other twice each season. If you’re a fan of one team, you hate the other side. That’s just the way it goes.
For Russell Beckman, he’s a Packers fan who has season tickets to both Green Bay and Chicago games. In 2017, he filed a federal lawsuit alleging the Bears violated the first and 14th amendments by not allowing him to wear his Packers gear on the sidelines in Chicago for a pregame event.
At the Week 15 game back in 2016, he was told that he wouldn’t be allowed on the field dressed in Packers gear. In April, a federal judge ruled that the case can proceed, but the case hasn’t been resolved.
Last week, Beckman and his legal team petitioned a judge for a temporary restraining order, allowing him to wear what he wants. A hearing was scheduled for Friday.
The Bears-Packers game at Soldier Field is set for Dec. 16.
