Ohio State fans will forever remember William White for his outstanding play on the field. The former Buckeye defensive back had a long, successful football career, both in Columbus and in the NFL.

Now, with his football days a few decades in the rearview mirror, White hopes to be remembered for something else. He wants to make an impact the reaches further than the football field and affects people all across the globe.

White was diagnosed with ALS in 2016, a rare, life-change disease that affects the strength of the muscles.

“When I was diagnosed and was learning a little bit more about what ALS is and everything, there isn’t much awareness,” White said. “When there’s no cure, I said ‘Now it’s all in God’s hands.’ I thought I would try and do something to bring more awareness to it.”

White says his goal is to help others as much as possible and continue to bring awareness to the disease.

In addition to conducting an interview on video, White was also featured in Ohio State Alumni Magazine. You can read more about White, his fight and how he makes the most of every day.
