Another B1G team is chasing down a national championship. On Thursday night, Nebraska defeated Illinois in the semifinal round of the women’s volleyball Final Four, meaning the Huskers will compete for a title on Saturday.
Nebraska defeated Illinois 3-2 on Thursday, overcoming a two-set deficit to reach the championship game. The Huskers will play Stanford on Saturday night, which defeated BYU earlier in the evening.
The Huskers will compete for a national title just one week after the Maryland men’s soccer team defeated Akron in the NCAA championship to claim the program’s fifth crown. That’s not a bad fall for the B1G.
Saturday, Nebraska will have an opportunity to win its third national championship in four seasons and win back-to-back titles for the first time in program history. The Huskers won the 2015 and 2017 national championships. Other titles came in 1995, 2000 and 2006.
After the thrilling come-from-behind victory, even head football coach Scott Frost was fired up, sending out a tweet in support of the volleyball team.

The Huskers will play Stanford at 9 p.m. ET for the national championship on Saturday night.
