Brian Kelly named Associated Press Coach of the Year
For the second time in his career, Brian Kelly has been named the Associated Press Coach of the Year.
Kelly has guided Notre Dame to a perfect 12-0 record, a No. 3 ranking and a spot in the College Football Playoff. It is the second time he’s guided the Irish to a perfect regular season record.

Notre Dame also had a perfect 12-0 record in 2012. Kelly also won the AP Coach of the Year award that season.
Kelly received 16 of the 58 first-place votes and totaled 81 points. Nick Saban also received 16 first-place votes but ended with 66 points. UCF’s Josh Heupel had five first-place votes and finished with 33 points.
A total of 12 coaches finished with at least one first-place vote. Washington State’s Mike Leach finished fourth in the voting.
Notre Dame will play Clemson in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29 for a chance to play in the national championship.
