Ryan Day has landed the first major commitment as head coach with Ohio State.
Zach Harrison, a 5-star defensive end out of Lewis Center, Ohio, committed to the Buckeyes on Wednesday. He made his announcement shortly after 12:30 p.m. ET and chose Ohio State over Michigan and Penn State.
Harrison is the top defensive end, the top prospect out of Ohio and the No. 4 overall recruit in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports.
The commitment from Harrison helps bolster Ohio State’s 2019 class, which suffered some early losses in the Early Signing Period. Wednesday morning, the Buckeyes lost commitments from 4-star safety Jordan Booker (Alabama) and 4-star quarterback Dwan Mathis (Georgia).
Harrison becomes the third 5-star prospect to join Ohio State’s 2019 class.
