Mark Dantonio is putting together a solid 2019 class, and two players intend to go a dual-sport route with the Spartans.

According to 247 Sports, Michigan State’s class currently ranks 28th in the nation. It is led by 5-star OL Devontae Dobbs and 4-star DB Julian Barnett, but it is Jase Bowen and Adam Berghorst that are a bit unique.

Bowen is a 3-star WR and Berghorst is a 3-star DE, and both also intend to play baseball for the Spartans. Dantonio addressed the situation in a brief interview with BTN.

BTN host Mike Hall even had a bit of fun with his questioning, working in an appropriate baseball-related pun with Dantonio:

“When you recruit someone like Adam Berghorst or Jase Bowen, who plan to play baseball for the Spartans too,” said Hall. “Are you and Jake Boss strategizing together? Do you get with the baseball coach and say let’s do a pitch together?”

“A pitch? That’s sort of ironic,” countered Dantonio with a chuckle. “No, I think what we’re trying to do here is make life moments for our players. If they want to play baseball, we’re going to allow that to happen for them, as long as they’re playing.”

Michigan State on BTN shared the exchange, along with Dantonio’s other comments on the Spartans’ class so far:
