Urban Meyer: ‘If we didn’t win (against Michigan), I’m not sure I could leave’

Urban Meyer will finish his Ohio State coaching career 7-0 against rival Michigan after dismantling the Wolverines 62-39 on Nov. 24.
However, had he suffered his first loss against “the team up north” in the final game of the regular season a few weeks ago, he would have had to totally re-think his decision to retire from the game.
“Well, I looked up at the scoreboard when we beat the team up north, and they way beat them…” Meyer told 10TV. “To be honest with you, if we didn’t win that game, I’m not sure I could leave losing that game.”
The Buckeyes left no doubt, producing nearly 600 yards of offense in a record-setting game that saw them put the most points on the scoreboard in the history of the rivalry, which has played 115 games dating back to 1897.
Especially knowing that Ryan Day would become his successor.
“When our team played the way that they did, and I knew coach Day was right there,” Meyer said. “I’m so confident in what he’s going to do here.”
Meyer will coach his final game against No. 9 Washington in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
