Friday morning, 3-star pro-style quarterback JD Johnson gave his verbal pledge to Michigan, becoming the fifth player to commit to the 2020 class. He made his announcement via Twitter.
“I am ecstatic to announce that I am committing to play football at University of Michigan,” Johnson wrote. “I want to thank God for this opportunity, my parents who have provided awesome support through this process, and my coaches and teammates at Pinnacle HS.”

Johnson is a native of Phoenix, Arizona and chose Michigan over offers from Arizona, Colorado State, South Carolina and UNLV.
According to 247Sports, Johnson is ranked as the No. 25 pro-style quarterback of the 2020 class.
It’s pretty early in the game for the 2020 recruiting class, but Michigan currently ranks second in the B1G and 11th nationally. The 2019 class topped the conference and sits eighth nationally.
