Urban Meyer won’t be the head coach at Ohio State after the Rose Bowl on January 1, but the legendary head coach still has plans to stay involved with the university.
Yesterday, Meyer told 10TV that he planned to be a co-instructor for a character and leadership course at the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State. That announcement was met with some heavy criticism considering all that transpired with Meyer, Ohio State and former assistant coach Zach Smith in July and August.
And one infamous college football fan had to weigh in on Meyer’s surprising news.
Harvey Updyke, the Alabama fan who was made infamous for poisoning the historic trees on Toomer’s Corner at Auburn University, chimed in on Meyer’s announcement. And his response was pretty popular on Twitter.
“I will be teaching an Arborist class [at] Auburn next semester,” Updyke said.

Updyke was convicted of poisoning and killing the oak trees on Toomer’s Corner following the 2010 Iron Bowl. He called into the Paul Finebaum Show to make the announcement of his actions public.
He was arrested and charged for one count of criminal damage of an agricultural facility, a Class-C felony. He pleaded guilty and served 180 days in prison. He was also ordered to pay $800,000 in restitution for his actions.
Updyke is barred from setting foot on any Auburn University property.
