Sports are full of those feel-good moments that remind us that football is just a game. And on Saturday, Aledo High School’s Blaze Mayes gave us one of those special moments.
Mayes was born with Down Syndrome and worked his way onto Aledo’s high school football team. Saturday, he received the opportunity to play. And his appearance came in the Texas High School State Championship Game.
It was a really incredible moment for Mayes, Aledo and all of sports.
Blaze Maye’s was born with Down syndrome and wanted nothing other than to play football. Today, he got to play in the state championship. This is why we love high school sports.

Aledo posted a convincing 55-19 win in the game, making his appearance even more special. And Mayes’ teammates couldn’t wait to celebrate with him when he returned to the sideline.
This is why we love sports.
