Michigan running back Chris Evans is prepared to hear a lot from the Florida defense on Saturday. Based on his previous experience, he knows the Gators enjoy talking.

While meeting with the media on Wednesday, Evans called the Florida defense “rowdy,” saying it likes to “talk a lot.” The Michigan running back bases his claim off of last year’s season-opening game between the two schools.

“We played them last year — basically the same team,” Evans told Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit News. “We’ll probably talk about something that we talked about last game or something.”

Michigan owns a 4-0 record all-time against Florida, including last year’s 33-17 victory to open the season. Saturday will mark the third time the two teams have played in four years.

Evans had a solid outing in last year’s matchup against the Gators, totaling 78 rushing yards on 22 carries. This season, the running back played in 10 games for the Wolverines, serving as the primary backup to Karan Higdon. Evans totaled 403 yards and four touchdowns on 74 touches.

With Higdon sitting out of the Peach Bowl, Evans will be the primary ball carrier for the Wolverines.

He’ll certainly be trying to quiet those Gator defenders on Saturday.
