Star QB Justin Herbert opting to return to Oregon for final season

One of college football’s top quarterbacks is returning for his senior season.
Wednesday, Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert announced that he’ll return to Eugene for his senior season with the Ducks. Herbert was projected to be the top available quarterback in the 2019 NFL Draft if he opted to leave.
His announcement was a belated Christmas gift to the Oregon football program.

Herbert threw for 2,985 yards and 28 touchdowns with the Ducks this season while completing passes at a nearly 60 percent clip. He added 173 yards and two scores with his legs.
Oregon finished the year 8-4. It will play Michigan State in the Redbox Bowl on Dec. 31.
Herbert’s decision could have an impact on other quarterbacks, such as Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins. Herbert staying in college an extra season only improves Haskins’ status for the 2019 NFL Draft.
It gives the Buckeye gunslinger something else to think about in the coming days.
