You don’t win the starting job at quarterback as a true freshman at a prominent program if you’re not confident. After leading Clemson to an unbeaten season and a Cotton Bowl victory as a rookie, Trevor Lawrence is loaded with confidence.
Just in case his performance all season long wasn’t enough to convince you, his comments after leading the Tigers to a lopsided victory over Notre Dame on Saturday evening.
Clemson posted a 30-3 win over the Fighting Irish in the Cotton Bowl, clinching a spot in the national championship game on Jan. 7. But after the game, confetti didn’t pour down from the rafters to help the team celebrate. In an interview with ESPN reporter Tom Rinaldi, Lawrence made a mention of it.
After noticing there was no confetti raining down, Lawrence confidently quipped, “We’ll have to wait until next week.”

It’s not exactly Babe Ruth calling his home run shot, but Lawrence clearly isn’t afraid of Clemson’s opponent in the title game, whether it’s Oklahoma or Alabama.
Lawrence threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns against Notre Dame. Clemson improved to 14-0 on the season with the win.
