Penn State and athletic director Sandy Barbour are close to agreeing on a contract extension, she told reporters on Monday.

According to StateCollege.com, Barbour says she expects to sign a new contract in “early in 2019.” The next publicly scheduled board meeting will be in February.

“This is my last stop,” Barbour told reporters. “Where would I want to go that’s a better opportunity, a better fit for me than Penn State? And this next contract will certainly help me do that.”

Barbour was initially hire in July 2014. She is in the final year of her contract, which is set to expire August 31, 2019. She receives $700,000 per year.

“We knew it would get done,” Barbour said.

The extension for Barbour comes after head football coach James Franklin and head basketball coach Patrick Chambers signed contract extensions in the last year.
