Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald has done an excellent job keeping a majority of his staff intact during his run in Evanston, and now he’s promoting from within his program.

Adam Rittenberg of ESPN reported on Thursday that Northwestern will hire Kurt Anderson as its new offensive line coach, replacing Adam Cushing who left to become the head coach at Eastern Illinois. Anderson was an analyst for the Wildcats last season.

Prior to joining Northwestern’s staff for the 2018 season, Anderson was the offensive line coach on Bret Bielema’s staff at Arkansas from 2016-2017. He has also coached the offensive line at Eastern Michigan and with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.

Northwestern finished the 2018 season with a 9-5 record, winning the B1G West and defeating Utah in the Holiday Bowl.

Cushing — Anderson’s predecessor — had been with the Wildcats for 14 seasons.
