Trace McSorley’s career at Penn State won’t be forgotten anytime soon. The quarterback had one of the most incredible three-year runs in program history.

McSorley set several program records, won 31 career games as a starter and repeatedly played with the game with a toughness and passion that’s hard to replicate. He’ll forever be remembered as one of the top quarterbacks in Penn State history.

After Penn State’s final game, a 27-24 loss to Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl, McSorley issued a message to Nittany Lions fans, thanking them for their support throughout the years. He published his words in an Instagram post.

“A brotherhood unlike any other. Extremely blessed and honored to have put on the most iconic uniform in college football for the last 5 years,” McSorley wrote. “Thank you to all my teammates that made my journey completely unforgettable. To the fans, thank you for the support you have shown the team through the darkest times and the love you gave us in our brightest hour. To the coaches, thank you for giving me an opportunity to live out one dream while pursuing another. I’m sad to close this chapter but also extremely excited for what’s to come! #WeAre always and forever.”

In three years, McSorley threw for 9,899 yards and rushed for an additional 1,697 yards. He accounted for 97 total touchdowns in his career.

McSorley helped lead Penn State back to national relevance and the Nittany Lions were a contender in the B1G for the past three seasons. Now it’s up to the program to build on the foundation that McSorley laid and continue to be a factor on the national stage.
