Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell is reportedly in the NCAA transfer portal.

Jeremy Birmingham of Letterman Row reported on Thursday that Martell’s name was now in the NCAA transfer database, allowing the quarterback to explore other programs. Martell’s decision comes just a few days after former 5-star and Georgia quarterback Justin Fields announced he would transfer to Ohio State.

Martell has been with the program for two years.

Martell played in a backup role for the Buckeyes this season, behind star quarterback and Heisman finalist Dwayne Haskins. He completed 23-of-28 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 128 yards and two scores.

Before Fields’ decision to transfer to Ohio State, Martell said he had no plans of leaving the program.

Fields is the highest-ranked player ever to commit to Ohio State. He’s currently appealing to the NCAA for immediate eligibility for the 2019 season after leaving Georgia.

Birmingham also reported that Miami and West Virginia are among the favorites to land Martell if he does decide to leave Columbus.
