Illinois has added a MAC opponent to its 2025 schedule, the program announced on Friday.

The Fighting Illini have schedule a home game against Western Michigan for Sept. 20, 2025. It will mark the seventh time the two teams have met on the gridiron. Illinois currently owns a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Broncos won the latest meeting in 2016 by a final score of 34-10.

The addition of Western Michigan to the 2025 schedule leaves Illinois one game closer to rounding out its non-conference slate for that season. The Illini will also travel to Duke on Sept. 6, 2025. A third non-conference opponent and a bye week have yet to be scheduled.

Illinois will open the 2025 in B1G play, hosting Nebraska at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30. The Illini will also open the 2024 and 2022 seasons by playing conference opponents. They will host Purdue on Aug. 31, 2024 and travel to Wisconsin on Sept. 3, 2022.

Five of Illinois’ six meetings against Western Michigan have been played in Champaign.
