New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA).

Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns on 261 carries in his rookie season with the Giants. He also racked up 721 receiving yards and four touchdown catches on 91 receptions in 2018.

It’s safe to say Barkley lived up to that No. 2 overall pick.

Barkley became the first running back in New York Giants history to rush for over 1,000 yards as a rookie. He totaled 2,028 yards from scrimmage and averaged 5.8 yards per touch.

Along with all those impressive totals, Barkley also eclipsed the 100-yard mark in seven games this season. He posted a career-high 170 yards against Washington on Dec. 9, a game the Giants won 40-16.

New York finished the year with a 5-11 record.
