Zavier Simpson records triple-double as Michigan downs Ohio State

Zavier Simpson is in the Michigan record books.

On Tuesday night, Simpson recorded a triple-double in Michigan’s 65-49 victory over Ohio State, becoming the sixth Wolverine to reach that milestone. He finished the night with 11 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in the win.

He helped seal the victory with one of his patented hook shots to give the Wolverines an 18-point lead late in the game.

Simpson was one of four Michigan players to hit double figures on Tuesday night, as the Wolverines were led by Jordan Poole who scored 15 points and Ignas Brazdeikis who added 14. Isaiah Livers pitched in with 12 points off the bench.

The Buckeyes were led by Kaleb Wesson and C.J. Jackson, who scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

With the triple-double, Simpson joins a list that includes Derrick Walton Jr., Caris LeVert, Darius Morris, Manny Harris and Gary Grant. After recording the triple-double, Simpson left the court to a standing ovation.

Michigan improved to 20-1 with the win and 9-1 in B1G play. It’s now tied with Michigan State atop the conference standings. Ohio State fell to 13-7 and is 3-6 in the conference.
