Saquon Barkley is overflowing with confidence. And after his rookie season with the New York Giants, why shouldn’t he have a little swagger?

Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, becoming the first rookie in Giants history to eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark. He was a Pro Bowl selection and named to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie team.

Now, after an excellent rookie season, Barkley is in the running for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. And if the running back had a vote, he’d cast it for himself. He explained why during an interview on ESPN’s Get Up!

“Me, personally, I feel like if you asked my peers that played against me or coaches who had to play against me, scheme against me who is the Rookie of the Year, I think they would say me,” Barkley said.

Barkley rushed for over 100 yards in seven games this season, and had multiple rushes over 50 yards. He also proved to be a dynamic receiver for the Giants, totaling 721 yards and four touchdowns on 91 receptions.

While the Giants didn’t have the most successful year, finishing 5-11, Barkley was still an exciting playmaker and is strong evidence that better days are ahead in New York.

Below is the interview with Barkley from Get Up!
