What Ryan Day said at Ohio State’s NSD press conference

It’s a fact.

Most of the Class of 2019 has committed and signed to their respective schools for the future. There are some players that still need to choose, though. Not all classes have been completely filled.

Ohio State, on Wednesday’s National Signing Day (NSD), signed Enokk Vimahi — proving just that. During the craziness surrounding NSD, Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day spoke with the media.

He talked about many things, including recruits committing, coaching changes, transfer rules and more. The entire press conference can be watched below. Underneath are some important tidbits from Day:

Day: Announces the addition of Vimahi and said they're waiting on one more player (Dawand Jones).

Day said losing Dwayne Haskins was hard because OSU expected to get three years from him and only got one. Said his exit made OSU ramp up pursuit of QBs.

Day on five-star WR Garrett Wilson: Called him magnetic in terms of personality and said he comes from great family. Said he has to develop physically but his skills "are as good as I've been around."

Day on how he'll use Urban Meyer: "He's built this over the last seven years and the culture he's built is amazing. The footprint is on this and will be for a long time." Said his office is "across the way."

Day said offensive line was a priority. Said he was in Hawaii for three hours for his visit with Enokk Vimahi before catching a red-eye flight back home.

Ryan Day says one of the main reasons Mike Yurcich was his pick for quarterbacks coach is that he's from Ohio. He wanted to have assistant coaches from the state.

Day said hiring Jeff Hafley was a no-brainer. Said 6 or 7 NFL teams wanted to hire him as coordinator. So he wanted a balance and Mattison fit the bill.

Day said Hafley and Mattison met before their hiring to assess chemistry. They had it. Asked if hiring him away from Michigan was an additional consideration, he smiled. "It was a consideration."

Day, asked on NCAA transfer waiver process. Acknowledged he's nervous about how it'll be resolved. Said it's not a process you sleep great at night about.
