The coaching carousel that hasn’t stopped rotating in Illinois has taken another spin.

ESPN NFL insider Field Yates reported on Friday morning that the Cincinnati Bengals are planning to hire Illinois strength coach Joey Boese. The news comes one day after the Green Bay Packers announced that they added Luke Butkus to the staff, who had previously served as the Illini’s offensive line coach.

New Bengals head coach Zac Taylor worked with Boese at Texas A&M in the past.

Boese joined Lovie Smith’s staff at Illinois in March 2016 and has been with the program the past three seasons. Before coming to Champaign, he served as the strength coach at Fresno State for four years.

He was at Texas A&M from 2008-11.

The Illini have endured plenty of coaching staff changes this offseason and it hasn’t slowed down since National Signing Day on Wednesday. Smith has some major voids to fill on his staff.
