Dwayne Haskins is going to be a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. Unless something changes drastically over the next two months, that’s as close to a guarantee as you can get.
The big question, though, is whether or not Haskins will be the first quarterback taken in this year’s draft, or if he’ll be behind Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray. Depending on the analyst, you’ll get a different answer.
Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch spoke with NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, asking for a comparison between Haskins and Murray. Jeremiah, right now, has Murray ahead of Haskins entering the NFL Scouting Combine.
According to Rabinowitz, Jeremiah says that Murray’s ability to run the football is the “X-factor.”
Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network is on a pre-Combine conference call. He has Kyler Murray ahead of Dwayne Haskins, calling Murray's running ability the "X-factor" in his reasoning. (Obviously, he hasn't consulted with Stephen A.)

Haskins has been compared to quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger and Carson Palmer for his big arm and pocket presence. He doesn’t have a great speed or running ability, but he can move around in the pocket.
Some would value Murray’s skillset over Haskins, but the former Ohio State star’s accuracy and arm strength, along with his big stature, is pretty appealing for many NFL teams.
The NFL Scouting Combine gets underway this week. It’ll be interesting to see if Jeremiah’s opinion of either quarterback changes over the next several days.
