There’s really one of two ways to handle the NFL Combine interview questions: with modesty or with confidence. Former Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary chose the latter.

“I’m the best player in this draft,” Gary told reporters, according to MLive.com. “Offensively and defensively. Period.”

Short, sweet and to the point.

Gary has been regarded as one of the top players in the NFL Draft this year and he’s consistently been mentioned as one of the top 10 prospects available. NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah said he wouldn’t be surprised to see the former Michigan star go as high as No. 2 in the draft, due to his freakish athleticism and high ceiling.

But going No. 2 overall isn’t good enough for the former five-star talent, who was regarded as the top player in Michigan’s 2016 recruiting class. After telling the media that he was the best player available, Gary was pressed on why he believes he’s the top prospect.

“Why d I think? Or why do I know?” Gary responded.

Gary registered 24.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in his three-year career with the Wolverines. Last year, he tallied 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in nine games while Michigan finished the season 10-3.

Though he had a solid career in Ann Arbor, Gary promised that he’s still got plenty of talent left in the tank and that his best football is still ahead.

“I’m working every day to be the best player I can,” Gary said. “I know what I’m capable of. The team that gets me is going to see it.

“My best years of football are still to come. I’m still learning the game and I can’t wait.”
