Former Michigan State safety Khari Willis is off to a strong start in Indianapolis. Literally.

Willis took to the bench press on Sunday at the NFL Combine, and he didn’t disappoint. The former Spartan registered 22 repetitions in the drill, ranking as the highest among defensive backs in attendance.

He beat out Virginia’s Juan Thornhill (21) and fellow B1G defensive back D’Cota Dixon out of Wisconsin (20) for the top spot.

Willis was an excellent all-around player for the Spartans throughout his career. In 2018, he was one of the top talents on one of the stingiest defenses in the NCAA. He total 84 tackles, 10 pass break-ups and two interceptions in all 13 games.

In four seasons with Michigan State, Willis registered 196 total tackles, 16 pass break-ups and four interceptions.

While there are still plenty of drills ahead for Willis in Indianapolis, there’s no doubt he’s off to a great start on a big stage.
