Michigan State’s Cassius Winston has been named one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, presented to the best point guard in college basketball.

The announcement came on Monday afternoon, as Winston and four other college basketball stars made the final cut. The other finalists are Josh Perkins (Gonzaga), Tremont Waters (LSU), Markus Howard (Marquette) and Ja Morant (Murray State).

A winner of the Bob Cousy Award will be presented at the College Basketball Awards in Los Angeles on Friday, April 12. The event will be televised on ESPN, according to the release.

Winston has been critical to Michigan State’s success this season, especially with the absence of fellow guard Joshua Langford and recent injury to Nick Ward. For the season, Winston is averaging 19.2 points and 7.6 assists per game. He’s also averaging three rebounds per contest.

The Spartans are 23-6 this season and 14-4 in B1G play.
