One Minnesota fan should be thankful he’s not in a hospital after daring Purdue 7-foot-3 center Matt Haarms to take a swing at him.

Following Minnesota’s 73-69 upset victory over the 11th-ranked Boilermakers on Senior Night at Williams Arena, students stormed the floor to celebrate the huge win. It was the perfect way to send out a great senior class and potentially solidified the Golden Gophers’ spot in the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year.

But during the celebration, one Minnesota fan got in the face of Haarms as the center was exiting the floor. The fan got right in Haarms’ face, and gave him the double-middle finger treatment.

Fortunately, for the fan, Haarms showed restraint and walked away, while a game official moved the fan out of the way.

That could’ve gotten ugly.

For the most part, the scene at Williams Arena was incredible. Celebrating a senior class with a huge win over Purdue by storming the floor is what college athletics is all about.

One fan decided to take it a little too far. He’s lucky Haarms just walked away.
