Nebraska running back Maurice Washington is in California being “processed” after being charged under the state’s “revenge porn” law, according to head coach Scott Frost.

After practice on Monday, Frost told reporters that Washington was back in California and that the running back is “in his lawyer’s hands.” Washington is facing criminal charges for allegedly possessing a video that reportedly captured a sexual assault and sending it to the victim in a text, along with a vulgar message.

Washington was not involved with the assault and did not record the video.

The video was recorded in 2016 and the victim was only 15 at the time. The victim was also Washington’s ex-girlfriend, according to NBC Bay Area.

Last week, Frost said that Nebraska would attempt to keep Washington’s status as a student-athlete as normal as possible while the legal process worked itself out. He also said that he hopes to get more clarity on the situation in the near future.

Washington just completed his freshman season with the Huskers, rushing for 455 yards and three touchdowns on 77 carries while appearing in 11 games. He also had 24 receptions for 221 yards and a score.
